We describe the fabrication of integrated optical Bragg grating reflec
tors in organic waveguides, utilizing a DANS side-chain substituted po
lymer. The devices operate in the 1.5 mum telecommunication window, an
d exhibit a linear narrow-band filtering action with good throughput a
nd coupling efficiency. The effect of a small slant in the channel dir
ection is also investigated experimentally. The structures have also b
een switched from a low to a high transmission state via a thermal ref
ractive nonlinearity.
