A PROPER WAY TO SPECIFY NEW ANTICORROSIVE PAINT SYSTEMS

The industrial held of surface treatments and anticorrosive coatings i s obliged to change drastically as a consequence of the new environmen tal regulations. In this work, the authors explain how it is possible to prepare proper anticorrosive paint specifications in accordance wit h the needs of users, the new paint formulations, the new environmenta l regulations and the ISO/CEN Standardization actually under preparati on. With this main aim, a brief description is made of the technical m ethodology used in Portugal to prepare the Maps of Atmospheric Corrosi on and the procedure to use them in order to specify the new anticorro sive paint systems for new projects/plants.
