We have studied the previously unknown beta(+) decay branches from V-4
4,V-44m and Co-52 to particle-bound states in Ti-44 and Fe-52, respect
ively. These intense branches populate a few states in the daughters f
rom an excitation energy of about 1 MeV up to the isobaric analogue st
ates at about 6 MeV. We have measured the first precise energy values
for the latter states as well as the beta-branching ratios to all stat
es in this excitation energy region. We have calculated the Pi decay o
f V-44,V-44m in the full fp shell model space as well as in a truncate
d space. Renormalized transition operators are constructed for the tru
ncated space and tested against experimental data in V-44 and Co-52. I
n general there is good agreement between theory and experiment for th
e half-lives, level energies and beta branches, but not all the states
found are reproduced by the calculations.
