C. Buscher et al., TRANSITIONAL-CELL CARCINOMA OF THE RENAL PELVIS WITH TUMOR THROMBUS EXTENDING INTO THE INFERIOR VENA-CAVA, Aktuelle Urologie, 24(5), 1993, pp. 286-290
The uncommon case of a transitional cell carcinoma of the renal pelvis
with a tumor thrombus extending into the inferior vena cava is presen
ted. Preoperatively, the tumor showed all attributes of an advanced re
nal cell carcinoma with vena caval tumor thrombus. The disease progres
sed rapidly with atypically localized metastases and multiple thrombot
ic occlusions of the main arteries. In the literature, 9 cases of a ca
rcinoma of the renal pelvis with a vena caval tumor thrombus have been
reported so far.
