The geographical localization and the chronological onset of the first
outbreaks of African Horse Sickness in Morocco in 1989 have been exam
ined with respect to the epizootic situation of the disease in the sou
th of Spain and the meteorologic conditions during the same period. A
set of arguments are suggested in favor of the influence of the wind p
attern on the spread of the epidemic to the north of Morocco by vector
s during the first days of September 1989.
