N. Ahmad et al., SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF SOME POLYALKYL-ANILINES AND POLYALKOXY-ANILINES, Indian journal of chemistry. Sect. A: Inorganic, physical, theoretical & analytical, 32(8), 1993, pp. 673-678
Since poly-3-alkylthiophenes are more processible than polythiophene,
it is expected that poly-o-alkyl and poly o-alkoxyanilines will evince
better processibility than polyaniline. Hence, poly-o-alkyl and poly-
o-alkoxyanilines (alkyl = CH3, C2H5, C3H7, alkoxy = OCH3, OC2H5, OC3H7
) have been synthesized. The polyaniline salt is insoluble in organic
solvents but these polymers are soluble both in salt and base forms. T
he solubility increases with increase in the length of the side chain
but conductivity decreases. The polypropyl and polypropoxyanilines hav
e been synthesized for the first time.
