The joint tecnique of micro-Raman molecular probe and microelectrodes
of carbon powder has been successfully employed in the eleotrocatalysi
s study of SOCl2 reduction. The discharge characteristics of Li/SOCl2
cell are usually limited by the large activation polarization of SOCl2
on surface of carbon. A new type of catalysts, octathia-hydro-phthalo
oyanine derivatives, were found to exhibit superior catalytic activity
for reduction of SOCl2 on carbon surface. The catalytic mechanism and
action on carbon cathodes were dicussed.
