Abstract
The construction of a laser-based Raman scattering system for identify ing major gas species and quantifying their partial pressures is descr ibed. The system incorporates a pulsed laser to minimize the backgroun d luminescence. The results obtained at room temperature for N2 at (36 5.8 +/- 0.5) nm and for O2 at (355.8 +/- 0.5) nm are presented.
