Abstract
Primitive-root sequences are polyphase sequences with good autocorrela tion properties. They are constructed over p-nary m-sequences of degre e 1. In a similar manner families of polyphase sequences can be built which also show good cross-correlation properties. This construction i s possible for all lengths p-1 (p prime). Further the correlation prop erties of both described families tend towards the Sarwate-bound, they are asymptotically optimal.
