This study contains a comprehensive description of the physical and ch
emical properties of filter dusts arising from waste incineraton plant
s. A detailed evaluation of the literature was accompanied by extensiv
e measurements in a technical scale facility over prolonged periods of
time. Close examination by sorption techniques of the filter dusts sh
ows specific porous void structures to be typical of filter dusts. The
results of the study are of interest as basic information about flue
gas cleaning, and contribute further to the knowledge existing about t
he de-Novo-synthesis of chlorinated aromatic compounds.
