Reaction of Na2PdCl4 with N-ferrocenylmethylidene-2,4,6-trimethylanili
ne yields the dimeric, chloro-bridged Pd(II) complex [Pd {(C5H5)FeC5H3
C(H) = N-2,4,6-(CH3)3C6H2}Cl]2. The title complex (1) is obtained by s
ubstitution of the chloro-bridges with acetate. 1 crystallizes in the
orthorhombic space group Pbca with the lattice parameters a = 1346.4(4
), b = 2876.6(2), c = 2472.8(5) pm and Z = 8. In the dimeric complex e
ach Pd2+ cation exhibits a square-planar coordination by the N atom an
d an ortho-C atom of the cyclopentadienyl ring of the Schiff-base and
two oxygen atoms of two different bridging acetato groups.
