Sm. Ahmed et al., COMPARATIVE DISSOLUTION CHARACTERISTICS OF BROPIRIMINE-BETA-CYCLODEXTRIN INCLUSION COMPLEX AND ITS SOLID DISPERSION WITH PEG-6000, International journal of pharmaceutics, 96(1-3), 1993, pp. 5-11
An inclusion complex of bropirimine (ABPP) with beta-cyclodextrin (bet
aCD) and its solid dispersion with polyethylene glycol 6000 (PEG 6000)
were prepared by the coprecipitation method. Comparative dissolution
studies revealed that the solid complex exhibited a markedly faster di
ssolution rate compared to the PEG 6000 solid dispersions and physical
mixtures in water and phosphate buffer (pH 7.4). However, the dissolu
tion of all the test preparations was enhanced to almost the same exte
nt in 0.1 N HCI. H-1-NMR was employed to confirm the inclusion of the
drug within the beta-CD cavity. The high solubility and instant releas
e of the drug were maintained upon ageing of the solid complex for 1 y
ear, while the release of the solid dispersions decreased. TLC investi
gations proved that this decrease in the release rate was not due to d
rug degradation.
