Md. Aggarwal et al., A NOVEL BRIDGMAN-STOCKBARGER MELT GROWTH SYSTEM FOR ORGANIC NONLINEAR-OPTICAL MATERIALS, Measurement science & technology, 4(7), 1993, pp. 793-795
A modified Bridgman-Stockbarger crystal growth system has been designe
d and fabricated for relatively low-temperature (up to 250-degrees-C)
nonlinear optical organic materials. The novel feature is that the cry
stal melt surface can be viewed from any direction and the temperature
gradient between the hot and cold zone can be adjusted at any time. T
he ampoule can be lowered at a rate as slow as 0.1 mm h-1. The tempera
ture can be maintained to a precision of +/-0.1-degrees-C. High-qualit
y single crystals of benzil have been successfully grown using this sy
stem.
