Abstract
The classical black hole background of two-dimensional string theory i s examined after including the effect of the tachyon field. Keeping al l terms upto O(T2) and making no other approximations, the only consis tent classical solution to the resulting dilaton-graviton theory is fo und to be flat spacetime with a nontrivial dilaton.
