Abstract
The formation of the two kinds of partially dehydrated amorphous alum can be explained by the water vapour gradient which appears within the sample during dehydration and by existence of a critical water pressu re P-c at the reaction interface. The mechanisms of dehydration at ''l ow'' and ''high'' pressure are described.
