The Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI) was used as st
ep two in an epidemiologic study of health in 2000 inhabitants in two
areas of Norway. Data are presented as an example of the use of the CI
DI combined with rich survey data material. The data suggest a higher
prevalence of nervous symptoms according to the Hopkins Symptom Checkl
ist 25-item scale (HSCL) among people who had impairment from physical
illness in the last year. A higher prevalence of psychiatric diagnose
s in the DSM-III-R system, according to the CIDI, is also found.
