Abstract
Surface wave effects on the radiation of microstrip ring antennas are studied theoretically using the full-wave solution based on reflection matrices for a microstrip ring antenna when they are operated at high er-order modes. The effects on the radiation due to changes in the rad ius of the truncated dielectric substrate, the thickness, and the perm ittivity are examined. A choice between TM11 at epsilon(r) = 9.8 or TM 12 at epsilon(r) = 2.2 is suggested. (C) 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
