Abstract
A leptospira-like spirochete was isolated from a lymphocyte culture fr om a HIV-I and HTLV-I/II-positive patient. On the basis of serological , biological and morphological characteristics of the cells of the iso lated strain (strain Lisboa), we conclude that it is a member of the g enus Leptonema.
