The process of the chromosome diminution in the somatic cells during e
arly embryogenesis in Cyclops strenuus strenuus (Crustacea, Copepoda)
was studied. It was found that the amount of the cellular granules of
eliminating chromatine decreased during the prophase-metaphase stages
from 600 to 150. Also, the metaphase chromosomes aberrations in the co
urse of the 3rd cleavage stage were observed. The chromosomes had defi
nite G-banding during the metaphase. Electron microscopic study reveal
ed the presence in the granulas of a dense membrane. The data obtained
are discussed from the standpoint of the modern knowledge of the geno
me structure.
