Experiments were conducted on TFTR to study the radiation of krypton w
hich will be important for future tokamaks, such as ITER, for the diag
nostic of the central ion temperature and for the control of the energ
y release from the plasma by radiative cooling. The total krypton radi
ation was monitored, and satellite spectra of KrXXXV were recorded wit
h a high-resolution crystal spectrometer. Radiative cooling and reduce
d particle recycling at the plasma edge region were observed, in reaso
nable agreement with modeling calculations which included radial trans
port.
