Fj. Garcia et al., ANATOMICAL AND TAXONOMICAL STUDIES OF THE ANTARCTIC NUDIBRANCHS AUSTRODORIS-KERGUELENENSIS (BERGH, 1884) AND A-GEORGIENSIS-N SP FROM THE SCOTIA SEA, Polar biology, 13(6), 1993, pp. 417-421
During the expedition ''ANTARTIDA 8611'' to the Scotia Sea, organized
by the Spanish Oceanographic Institute, several specimens of Austrodor
is were collected. Although nearly all have been identified as Austrod
oris kerguelenensis (Bergh, 1884), one of them shows some anatomical f
eatures, mainly related to the reproductive system, that allows us to
identify this specimen as a new species, which we have named A. georgi
ensis. Therefore, with the aim of clarifying the taxonomical value of
this species, a comparative study of the anatomy of A. kerguelenensis
and A. georgiensis is presented. Some new data on the diet of A. kergu
elenensis are also presented.
