L. Allancon et al., COMBINED RADIATION AND CONVECTION DUE TO A HEAT AND MASS SOURCE IN A DIVIDED ENCLOSURE, International journal of heat and mass transfer, 36(13), 1993, pp. 3211-3227
A numerical study for the unsteady two-dimensional compressible flow i
n a rectangular enclosure is presented. The enclosure is divided in tw
o identical parts by a vertical wall. Hot gases are injected in one pa
rt of the enclosure. The authors have focused their attention on the t
reatment of the injection of mass in a closed cavity, and for coupling
the different heat transfers: the mass, momentum and energy equations
are combined with the heat conduction equation through the dividing w
all and with the radiation. The Navier-Stokes equations are solved by
a finite-difference technique useful for the compressible flow at low
Mach number. The numerical results with and without radiation in the e
nclosure are compared. The results indicate that radiative heat transf
er alters convective flow patterns significantly.
