The dynamic stereochemistry of endo-(starphenylene)chromium tricarbony
l, endo-1-Cr, is elucidated through NMR spectroscopic methods. Intramo
lecular metal-arene migration and hindered metal-tripod rotation are o
bserved in closely related derivatives of endo-1-Cr. The stereochemist
ry of these systems is modeled well by ab initio local density functio
nal theory methods.
