Abstract
High quality, structural end joints can be cold-set at mill speed usin g a two-component honeymoon adhesive system composed of southern pine bark or pecan shell membrane tannin and a modified, commercially avail able, phenol-resorcinol-formaldehyde resin. Adhesive costs of a fully waterproof glueline are approximately $0.60/lb. of applied adhesive mi x compared to $0.80/lb. for current melamine-formaldehyde adhesives. C apital and processing costs are reduced by eliminating the radio-frequ ency generator used in most laminating plants.
