Abstract
This paper provides the first laboratory evaluation of the energy acco mmodation coefficients of 8 km/s oxygen atoms on selected materials. P reliminary measurements have been provided for three materials at norm al incidence. Neglecting chemical energy, the accommodation coefficien ts for nickel, gold, and reaction cured glass are all approximately 0. 6 +/- 50%.
