J. Castanet et al., NEUTROPHILIC DERMATOSIS ASSOCIATED WITH CHRONIC NEUTROPHILIC LEUKEMIA, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 29(2), 1993, pp. 290-292
Chronic neutrophilic leukemia is an uncommon myeloproliferative disord
er. We report a new case that fulfills the clinical and biologic crite
ria for such a diagnosis. The hematologic disease was revealed by a ne
utrophilic dermatosis that finally disappeared spontaneously after a d
uration of 1 year. Despite the lack of parallelism in the course of de
rmatologic and hematologic manifestations, we believe they were strong
ly linked. Occurrence of neutrophilic dermatoses in the course of othe
r myeloproliferative disorders is well known. However, in our case, cl
inical and histologic features could not be used to distinguish betwee
n atypical Sweet's syndrome and specific cutaneous lesions because of
the mature appearance of both skin and blood neutrophils.
