F. Meier et al., EPIDERMOLYSIS-BULLOSA ACQUISITA - EFFICACY OF HIGH-DOSE INTRAVENOUS IMMUNOGLOBULINS, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 29(2), 1993, pp. 334-337
A 16-year-old boy had a 6-year history of a generalized bullous erupti
on that was resistant to multiple therapies. Findings of immunofluores
cent split-skin studies and electron microscopy were consistent with a
diagnosis of epidermolysis bullosa acquisita. Treatment with cyclospo
rine and prednisolone decreased new blister formation. Additional ther
apy with high-dose intravenous immunoglobulins was successful in contr
olling the patient's disease.
