Carbonaceous deposits, formed on the catalyst Cu/ZSM-5 by interaction
at low temperature with propene, NO and oxygen, are characterised spec
troscopically and shown to be able to carry out the selective catalyti
c reduction of NO; rates of reaction, which follow simple kinetics, ar
e lower than in the absence of pre-deposited coke, and the results sug
gest an inverse correlation between catalyst Bronsted acidity and acti
vity in NOx reduction.
