Abstract
The deregulation of domestic aviation in Australia in October 1990 end ed 30 years of Government controls of capacity, fares, market entry an d aircraft importation Based on the first year's evidence, deregulatio n has been very successful. Consumers have benefited from lower fares and better quality of service, while the carriers have cut costs and b ecome much more competitive.
