P. Juris et al., THE EFFECT OF LABORATORY AEROBIC STABILIZ ATION OF LIQUID EXCREMENTS OF PIGS ON VITALITY OF SALMONELLA-TYPHIMURIUM AND ASCARIS-SUUM-GERMS, Veterinarni medicina, 38(9), 1993, pp. 553-558
Laboratory aerobic mesophilic stabilisation (fermentation) of pig slur
ry reduced the survival time of S. typhimurium, compared with their pr
evalence in anaerobic excrements. The decimation time T90 for S. typhi
murium, was 32 hours. The effect of aerobic stabilisation on the survi
val of nonembryoted eggs of the model helminth A. suum was lower than
that observed in Salmonella. After 54 hours of aerobic stabilization o
f slurry only 32 % of eggs were devitalized. Stabilized control group
did not develop 13 % of eggs into their embryonated stage.
