Ys. Lee et Kd. Lee, ON THE DYNAMIC-RESPONSE OF LAMINATED CIRCULAR CYLINDRICAL-SHELLS UNDER IMPULSE LOADS, Computers & structures, 63(1), 1997, pp. 149-157
The free vibration and dynamic response for the CFRP and GFRP cross-pl
y laminated circular cylindrical shells under impulse loads are invest
igated by using the first-order shear deformation shell theory. The mo
dal analysis technique is used to develop the analytical solutions of
the simply-supported cylindrical shells, The analysis is based on the
expansion of the loads, displacements and rotations in a double Fourie
r series which satisfies the end boundary conditions of simply support
. The analytical solution is assumed to be separable into a function o
f time and a function of position. In this study, the considered impul
se load types are step pulse, sine pulse, three triangular (1,2,3) pul
ses and exponential pulse. The solution for the given loading pulse ca
n be found by involving the convolution integral. The results show tha
t dynamic responses are governed primarily by natural period of the st
ructure. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
