Am. Martin et al., ANAEROBIC TREATMENT OF FISH FLOUR WASTE-WATER, Journal of environmental science and health. Part A: Environmental science and engineering, 28(8), 1993, pp. 1827-1846
We carried out a kinetic study on the anaerobic digestion of wastewate
r generated by the production of fish flour. Three bioreactors contain
ing different immobilization supports were investigated. Assuming firs
t-order kinetics, the experimental results were fitted to the equation
G = G(m)[l - exp(K(o)t)]. We determined the apparent kinetic constant
of the process (K(o)) and found it to be dependent on the nature of t
he support at chemical oxygen demand (COD) levels below 9 g/L. Higher
COD levels resulted in substrate inhibition prevailing over the effect
of the support.
