Abstract
The color of 1 00 soil samples collected in Florida and Brazil was mea sured conventionally with Munsell color charts and with a tristimulus colorimeter (Minolta Chroma Meter 200) progammed to record reflected c olor in Munsell notation. The instrument-derived color readings were hi ghly reproducible and more precise than the visual determinations. It appears that the Chroma Meter 200, an instrument usually used for frui t and juice color measurement, can be used to get objective soil color measurements, free of individual color perception differences, and wi th better interpolated values.
