J. Mojzis et al., THE EFFECT OF DICHLORVOS AND POLYCHLORINATED-BIPHENYLS (DELOR 103) ONTHE PROTOZOAN TETRAHYMENA-PYRIFORMIS, BIOLOGIA, 48(3), 1993, pp. 349-354
The effect of dichlorvos and polychlorinated biphenyls on the protozon
Tetrahymena pyriformis was studied. Both xenobiotics were of high tox
icity in the used test-object and have caused significant changes in t
he activity of the observed enzymes. Dichlorvos has decreased the acti
vity acetylcholine esterase by about 80 %. At the concentration of 15.
0 mg.l-1 a significant decrease of ALT activity was also observed afte
r 90 and 240 minutes of incubation and a significant decrease of LDH a
ctivity occurred after 240 minutes of incubation. Polychlorinated biph
enyls have increased the activity of aminotransferases and alkaline ph
osphatase, respectively. The activity of lactate dehydrogenase as comp
ared with the control was markedly lower.
