Abstract
This paper describes the new inorganic scintillators CdF2: Eu and CdF2 : Tm. They have primary luminescence decay time constants of 1.3-6.0 n sec, light yields of 0.4 and 1.0% of that of NaI(Tl), and radiation re sistances over 2.10(6) and 10(8) rad, respectively. The first investig ations of the effects of continuous gamma-fluxes, powerful electromagn etic pulses,and heavy hadron radiation on the optical materials are pr esented.
