M. Schweer, A DIFFERENTIAL-THEORY OF INTERPERSONAL-TR UST - CONSIDERATIONS ON TRUST BETWEEN TEACHERS AND STUDENTS, PSYCHOLOGIE IN ERZIEHUNG UND UNTERRICHT, 44(1), 1997, pp. 2-12
Exemplifying educational relationships, a differential theory of trust
is presented. It is shown, that trust development depends remarkably
on the individual trust tendency and the individual implicit theory of
trust. Furthermore, specific situational features function as modifyi
ng variables and influence the nature and the degree of trust developm
ent. Results of some first empirical studies, which support this diffe
rential theory, are summarized. Additionally, the connection between e
xperienced trust and learning as well as achievement behaviour is disc
ussed and interactional processes in situational perception and action
regulation are refered to, as well as some ongoing considerations on
the analysis of trust between teachers and students are outlined.
