Abstract
In this paper, the stoichiometric acid-base equilibrium constants for the amino acids alpha-alanine, gamma-aminobutyric acid, and epsilon-am inocaproic acid have been determined in KNO3 aqueous solutions at diff erent ionic strengths and 25-degrees-C. Experimental values of pK(m,i) app have been plotted as a function of the ionic strength by using the Guggenheim, Scatchard, and Pitzer models for the activity coefficient s of the species present at equilibria. Results have been briefly disc ussed.
