Excess volumes and isentropic compressibilities of binary mixtures of
p-xylene with 2-propanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, and 3-methyl-1-butanol
have been measured at 303.15 K. The excess volume exhibits positive de
viation over the whole range of composition in the three mixtures, and
the deviation in isentropic compressibility exhibits inversion in sig
n in the three mixtures. The results have been compared with those rep
orted in the literature for binary mixtures of p-chlorotoluene with th
e same alcohols (1).
