BLOOD-VESSEL DIAMETER MEASUREMENT BY ULTRASOUND

Blood vessel diameter measurement is crucial to volume flow measuremen t in medical ultrasound. The accuracy of the measurement is examined i n this study. Experiments were made on three kinds of tube using four transducers on three commercial duplex ultrasound scanners. The accura cy of the inner diameter measurement is affected by ultrasonic pulse l ength. By correcting this effect, it has been shown that the accuracy of the measurement can be increased significantly over a range of cond itions.
