S. Puri et al., PRODUCTION OF L(I)-SUBSHELL AND M-SHELL VACANCIES FOLLOWING INNER-SHELL VACANCY PRODUCTION, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section B, Beam interactions with materials and atoms, 83(1-2), 1993, pp. 21-30
The probabilities for transfer of vacancies from the K s el to an L(i)
subshell (eta(KL(i))) and to the M shell (eta(KM)), and from the L(i)
subshell to the M shell (eta(L(i)M)) are evaluated for elements with
atomic numbers 18 less-than-or-equal-to Z less-than-or-equal-to 96 usi
ng the theoretical radiative transition rates of Scofield [Phys. Rev.
A 9 (1974) 1041; At. Data Nucl. Data Tables 14 (1974) 121] and radiati
onless transition rates tabulated by Chen et al. [At Data Nucl. Data T
ables 24 (1979) 13; Phys. Rev. A 21 (1980) 442]. The calculated vacanc
y transfer probabilities are least-squares fitted to polynomials to ob
tain analytical relations that represent these probabilities as a func
tion of atomic number.
