Physical and numerical experiments to determine the accuracy of time f
astening have been fulfilled on a laser with short time periodic modul
ation of loss (STPML), the laser being able of synchronizing ultrashor
t pulses. The physical limit of the accuracy of time fastening has bee
n found to equal 0.04 T (T is the axial period of the cavity) with 1-2
mus duration of the generation process and with 2T duration of the fr
ont of the resonator quality switch for a pulse train. The main contri
bution to the instability of the time fastening has been found to be f
rom the instability of the front duration and from errors of the front
conjugation with external processes via electrical synchropulses. Whe
n an air discharger is used to produce the control electrical signal,
control pulses approximately 20 ns in duration lead to a time fastenin
g inaccuracy of less than 1 ns.
