The influence of high temperature hydrogen treatment (HDDR-treatment)
on magnetic properties of TbFe2 and quasibinary Tb(Fe(0.8)M(0.2))(2) c
ompounds (where M=Al, Si, Ga, Co) has been investigated. Coercive forc
e H increases considerably after HDDR-treatment in all investigated co
mpounds and reaches the maximum value after hydrogen treatment in the
temperature range of 700-780 degrees C. It was shown that TbFe2 HDDR-p
owders can be used to produce the isotropic permanent magnets. Recombi
nation of TbFe2 during hydrogen desorption at 740-750 degrees C was fo
und to proceed, at least, in two stages with the appearance of Tb6Fe23
as an intermediate phase. Copyright (C) 1997 International Associatio
