Abstract
Transient observation under excitation with laser pulses is carried ou t on the optical absorption band in electron-irradiated NaCl using a m onochromator coupled with a charge-coupled device (CCD) linear sensor. The free electron effect of the 2.10 eV band is confirmed from the re sult that no saturation effect of the band is observed even with high- power (320 GW/m2) excitation, in contrast to the saturation effect of the band of localized electron centers in NaCl.
