S. Xu et al., AN ENDOCHRONIC FINITE-ELEMENT MODEL FOR PREDICTING LOADS IN GRAIN STORAGE STRUCTURES, Transactions of the ASAE, 36(4), 1993, pp. 1191-1199
A finite element algorithm was developed using an endochronic constitu
tive model to predict loads in grain storage bins. Triaxial test data
reported in the literature were used to determine endochronic model pa
rameters for wheat at 8.1% w.b. (wet basis) moisture content. Comparis
ons of predicted stress-strain behavior with the experimental data sho
wed that the endochronic model adequately described the characteristic
s of stress-strain-dilatancy for wheat en masse. The predictive finite
element model was validated against experimental data reported in the
literature for static loading conditions. The maximum difference betw
een predicted and measured lateral pressures was 10% and the average d
ifference 6%.
