Abstract
Hypothyroidism may be difficult to diagnose in patients with Parkinson 's disease because of clinical similarities. Although the issue of scr eening for hypothyroidism in the elderly is controversial, we strongly recommend a high index of suspicion in patients with Parkinson's dise ase, especially when the various hypokinetic signs do not respond to a ppropriate antiparkinsonian treatment.
