Paper wood pulp was grafted with methyl methacrylate using potassium b
romate (KBrO3) redox system. The effect of monomer concentration, reac
tion time, initiator concentration and liquor ratio on the graft yield
and polymer loading were studied. The effect of liquor ratio and reac
tion time of the grafting system on water retention value (WRV) of the
grafted samples were also studied. Optimum conditions of the grafting
reaction were determined.
