N. Martins et al., CONTROL STRATEGIES FOR MULTIPLE STATIC VAR COMPENSATORS IN LONG-DISTANCE VOLTAGE SUPPORTED TRANSMISSION-SYSTEMS, IEEE transactions on power systems, 8(3), 1993, pp. 1107-1117
This paper addresses the small-signal stability and control problems a
ssociated with a long distance voltage supported AC transmission syste
m. Linear techniques are used for the control design of multiple stati
c VAR compensators along the transmission system. Different voltage co
ntrol strategies are investigated and additional stabilizing signals a
re designed using frequency response techniques. A new centralized con
trol strategy s proposed and its performance is shown to be superior t
o the traditional individual bus voltage control. Linear time response
s to step disturbances are included to illustrate the performances of
the different control strategies investigated.
