Molecular scattering of radiation in the expanding universe at redshif
ts z from 30 to 50 is considered. It is shown that the presence of mol
ecules like H-2D+ can create a ''curtain'' that blurs the primordial s
patial fluctuations of the cosmic background radiation (CBR). The requ
ired abundances for this molecule are estimated and features of the se
condary fluctuations are discussed.
