Titanium samples were anodically oxidized in H3PO4 baths at various co
ncentrations and voltages. The oxidation kinetics and the yield of inc
orporation of phosphorus ions into the oxide were studied as a functio
n of the electrochemical parameters. Analytical measurements were perf
ormed using nuclear reaction analysis (NRA). A growing mechanism is di
scussed and we examine how to increase the self-protection of oxide fi
lms against corrosion.
