Abstract
Forty 'Morden Pink' Lythrum virgatum plants were transplanted into thr ee wild stands of L. salicaria in June 1992. In Sept. 1992, seeds were collected and tested for viability and germination rates. Seed testin g indicated that 83% of the collected seeds was viable (tetrazolium te st) with a mean germination rate of 76%. We conclude that 'Morden Pink ' will cross-pollinate and produce viable seeds when exposed to wild L . salicaria stands.
